This Sunday, Rua XV de Novembro hosted a geek edition of Domingo no Centro. The free public programme brought pop culture, games, comics, anime, technology and cosplay to the heart of Curitiba.
Guilda de Aventureiros took part alongside Universe Geek. For us, it was a chance to be where stories, games, characters and the city meet—and to talk with people who understand the power of exploring, imagining and playing together.
A city centre full of characters
Our account is simple: the event was packed. Rua XV welcomed families, groups of friends, curious visitors and fans who turned a walk through the city centre into a geek-culture gathering. Cosplayers were everywhere, bringing characters and pop-culture references into the street. It was not only about watching a programme, but about taking part, recognising references and meeting people who share the same universes.
Geek culture as an urban gathering
Domingo no Centro is a City of Curitiba initiative within the Curitiba de Volta ao Centro programme. This themed edition occupied Rua XV de Novembro, between the Bondinho and Rua Marechal Floriano Peixoto, with cultural attractions, free services and activities for different ages.
There was also Ecotroca Geek, a space for exchanging books, games, electronics, collectibles, costumes and cosplay accessories. For Guilda de Aventureiros, being there was a way to experience a Curitiba that recognises itself in creativity, pop culture and shared experiences. We left feeling there is room to create more encounters between tourism, narratives, games and the city.
